Week 20: Letter P Activities
Week 20 of our Letter of the Week preschool curriculum focuses on the letter P and the number fifteen. In Week 20, your child will also learn about pumpkins, patterns, and more.
Letter P Activities: Day 1
- Sing the alphabet song with your child.
- Learn about the letter P on Starfall. On each screen of this interactive activity, your child will need to click the letter P, wait for the animation to play, or complete the activity to get the green arrow to appear. Then, he/she will click the green arrow to go to the next screen.
- Show your child how to write an upper and lowercase P, and have him complete the worksheet on page 96 of the workbook.
- Watch Pop Goes the Weasel. Encourage your child to sing along.
- Optional: Choose an activity, a recipe to prepare together, or a snack from the list of additional activities near the end of this page.
Letter P Activities: Day 2
- Watch Captain Seasalt and the ABC Pirates “P” Island cartoon.
- Read How Does the Pumpkin Grow By Allyn Fisher. You’ll find this ebook listed near the top of the Pre-K Story Collection. It’s available in PDF and EPub formats.
- Show your child how to write the number 15. On workbook page 97, have him/her trace the 15s and use a dot marker to mark fifteen boxes in the ten frames. You may want to place something under the worksheet to protect your table, because the dot markers tend to soak through paper.
- Practice counting to fifteen with your child using blocks, beads, or other household objects.
- Watch Pop Goes the Weasel and sing along.
- Optional: Choose an activity, a recipe to prepare together, or a snack from the list of additional activities near the end of this page.

Letter P Activities: Day 3
- Watch Pop Goes the Weasel and sing along.
- Read Peter Piper to your child or click the ear to listen to the tongue twister.
- On workbook page 98, help your child trace and write the letter P. Read the words under the pictures to him/her.
- Read The Story of the Three Little Pigs with drawings by L. Leslie Brooke to your child. Alternatively, if you prefer a version of the story where the wolf doesn’t come to a violent end, Starfall offers a modern retelling of The Three Little Pigs. You will find this PDF ebook listed under “2nd and 3rd Grade Books.”
- Optional: Choose an activity, a recipe to prepare together, or a snack from the list of additional activities near the end of this page.
Letter P Activities: Day 4
