How to Find Free Homeschool Math Curriculum

Here’s a quick look at what you’ll find in each of the six menu options above.

• Pre-K – 8th Grade Math– Browse grade level courses for elementary and middle school.
• Algebra– This page includes Pre-Algebra, Algebra I, Algebra II, and other algebra courses. Pre-Algebra is usually taken in 7th or 8th grade. Although Algebra I is a high school level course, many students take it in 8th grade.
• Geometry- Explore high school Geometry courses that cover shapes, measurement, and proofs.
• Trigonometry & Calculus– This page lists high school Trigonometry, Pre-Calculus, Calculus I, and Calculus II courses. Trigonometry and Pre-Calculus are often combined into a single course, though some programs offer them separately.
• Practical Math– Discover high school Consumer Math and Business Math options focused on real-world skills.
• Statistics– Browse high school Statistics courses that cover data, probability, and analysis.

Choosing Homeschool Math Curriculum

With so many math curriculum options, choosing the right one can feel overwhelming. To narrow down your choices, consider asking yourself these questions.

• What grade or level is right for my child? If a math curriculum offers a placement test, use it to help choose the right level. If there isn’t a placement test, browse the scope and sequence or table of contents for various levels to help find the right fit.
• Does spiral or mastery math curriculum work better for my child? A spiral curriculum introduces many topics briefly and revisits them repeatedly at increasing depth, while a mastery curriculum focuses on one topic at a time until the student fully understands it.
• Am I looking for a homeschool math curriculum my child can complete online, or something I can print for screen-free work?
• Do I need a math curriculum that includes video instruction?
• Would I prefer a math curriculum my child can do independently or one that’s more parent-led?
• What types of materials have worked well (or poorly) for my child in the past?
• Does my state or country require specific math courses for homeschool high school graduation?
• If my child plans to attend college, which math courses do the colleges they are considering require entering freshmen to have completed in high school?
