Free Trigonometry and Calculus Math Curriculum
CK-12
CK-12 offers online textbooks for Trigonometry, Precalculus (a combined precalculus and trigonometry course), Math Analysis (a precalculus course without trigonometry), and Calculus (covering Calculus I and II topics). The lessons include examples, review questions, videos, and interactive activities.
Easy Peasy All-in-One High School C
Easy Peasy offers Trigonometry and Precalculus and Calculus, which covers Calculus I and some Calculus II topics. The Trigonometry and Precalculus course uses Khan Academy and Yay Math! videos for trigonometry and an online precalculus textbook for the rest of the course. The course includes quizzes, unit tests, and a final exam. The Calculus course follows a college textbook and study guide from MIT OpenCourseWare, with optional video lectures. This course includes a midterm and a final exam.
Flipped Math
Flipped Math offers an AP Pre-Calculus course that combines pre-calculus and trigonometry. The site also offers two AP Calculus courses that both cover Calculus I topics. AP Calculus has more, shorter lessons, while AP Calculus Block has fewer, longer lessons. Each lesson includes a video and a printable practice packet with solutions. If the student struggles with a concept, an additional corrective assignment provides more practice on that skill. While the website also offers a traditional Pre-Calculus course, most of its lesson printables are not free and must be purchased.
GA Virtual Learning
The Georgia Department of Education provides free public versions of its online high school courses. These courses include AP Precalculus (a combined precalculus and trigonometry course), Enhanced Advanced Algebra: Concepts and Connections and AP Precalculus (a combined Algebra II, precalculus, and trigonometry course), and AP Calculus AB/BC (covering Calculus I and II topics). The courses use online lessons with videos and interactive activities. AP Calculus AB/BC also includes OpenStax Calculus textbooks. Assessments are not included.
Khan Academy
Khan Academy offers Trigonometry, Precalculus and AP Precalculus (combined precalculus and trigonometry courses), Calculus 1, Calculus 2, AP Calculus AB (covering Calculus I topics), AP Calculus BC (covering Calculus I and II topics), and Multivariable Calculus (covering Calculus III topics). The courses include videos, articles, practice exercises, quizzes, and unit tests. Parents can create an account to track their child’s progress.
Modern States
Modern States courses prepare students to take College Level Examination Program (CLEP) exams. Students can earn college credit through CLEP exams while still in high school, making college more accessible and affordable. The self-paced Precalculus (a combined precalculus and trigonometry course) and Calculus (covering Calculus I topics) courses each include video lessons, assigned readings, quizzes, and a final exam modeled on the CLEP test. Students who pass a course earn a voucher that covers the CLEP exam fee, though some test centers charge a separate fee.
OpenStax
OpenStax offers online textbooks for Precalculus 2e (a combined precalculus and trigonometry course) and Calculus Volume 1, Volume 2, and Volume 3. Each book teaches through written explanations, examples, and practice exercises. Answer guides, slides, and other instructor resources require a verified educator account. See Free OpenStax Textbooks for more information on signing up for an educator account as a homeschooler.
Saylor University
Saylor University is a nonprofit initiative that offers courses to professionals and college students, but high school students can also take them. This self-paced Calculus I course includes articles, lectures, videos, and quizzes. Students who pass the final exam receive a certificate of completion.
School Yourself
School Yourself’s Trigonometry course is a short introductory course taught through interactive video lessons. Students answer questions as they go, and the lessons offer extra help or let them skip ahead based on their answers. With a free account, students also get personalized quizzes, review plans, and suggestions for what to study next. The site also offers Precalculus and Calculus, but these courses are currently incomplete.
