Easy Peasy All-in-One High School C
Easy Peasy’s Algebra I and Algebra II courses each have 180 daily lessons that pull together materials from Khan Academy, Coolmath, MathBitsNotebook, Kuta Software worksheets, and other sites. Flipped Math
Flipped Math offers Traditional Algebra I, Common Core Algebra I, Traditional Algebra II, and Common Core Algebra II. Each lesson includes a video and a printable practice packet with solutions. If the student struggles with a concept, an additional corrective assignment provides more practice on that skill. The traditional courses, including all printable packets, are free. The only purchase for the traditional courses is the assessments, if you choose to use them. However, the Common Core courses aren’t truly free because the printable packets are free only for the first few units. After that, you must purchase them. Please note: Flipped Math is developing a new Algebra II course that’s scheduled to be complete in April 2027.
Georgia Virtual Learning
The Georgia Department of Education provides free public versions of its online high school courses, including Algebra: Concepts and Connections (Algebra I) and Advanced Algebra: Concepts and Connections (Algebra II). The lessons are presented in an online textbook format and include examples, videos, and practice problems. For advanced students, the site also offers Enhanced Advanced Algebra: Concepts and Connections and AP Precalculus, which covers Algebra II and precalculus in one year. Assessments are not included.
Simply Good and Beautiful Math C
This 120-lesson Pre-Algebra course includes four printable course books, an answers and solutions manual, and video lessons. The PDFs and videos are free, but physical course books and optional extra practice worksheets are available for purchase.
HippoCampus
HippoCampus’s main algebra course is Algebra I: An Open Course. It is divided into two semesters, each with an online textbook. Each lesson begins with a warm-up, followed by a video presentation, examples, practice problems, and a review. The site also offers two NROC Developmental Math courses, Beginning Algebra and Intermediate Algebra and Trigonometry, which use the same lesson format but are designed for college-bound students who need algebra review. Older versions of Algebra I and an Elementary Algebra course are also available.
Illustrative Mathematics
Illustrative Mathematics offers problem-based Algebra I and Algebra II courses. Each lesson includes a warm-up, problem-solving activities, a short cool-down problem, and practice problems. The site also offers Integrated Math 1 – 3, which combines algebra, geometry, and statistics over three years as an alternative to the traditional math sequence. With a free educator account (which requires a photo ID), parents can access printable materials, answer keys, and tests. When signing up, homeschoolers can select ‘other’ as their school district.
Khan Academy
Khan Academy offers Pre-Algebra, Algebra I, and Algebra II. These courses include video lessons, practice problems, quizzes, and unit tests. Parents can create an account to track progress. The site also offers Integrated Math 1 – 3, which combines algebra, geometry, and statistics over three years as an alternative to the traditional math sequence.
MasterMath
This Algebra I course uses short video lessons with built-in “You Try It” problems. Students pause the video to solve a problem before seeing the answer. Each lesson includes a printable worksheet and an online quiz. The curriculum also includes quarterly and final exams.
Math is Fun
Math Is Fun’s High School Algebra 1 and High School Algebra 2 pages list the skills students need to learn in each course, organized by topic. Each skill includes an explanation, examples, and practice problems. The site explains that the lists are only a guide and encourages additional exercises and book work. Therefore, parents will need to add another resource for regular practice.
Modern States
Modern States courses prepare students to take College-Level Examination Program (CLEP) exams. Students can earn college credit through CLEP exams while still in high school, making college more accessible and affordable. The College Algebra course includes video lessons, assigned readings, quizzes, and a final exam modeled after the CLEP exam. Students who pass the course receive a voucher that covers the CLEP exam fee, though some test centers may charge an additional fee.
OpenStax
OpenStax offers online textbooks for Prealgebra, Algebra I, and Algebra II. Each textbook includes explanations, examples, and practice exercises. Answer guides, test banks, and other teacher resources require a verified educator account. See Free OpenStax Textbooks for more information on signing up for an educator account as a homeschooler.
Ray’s Arithmetic
This vintage textbook series is now in the public domain and available for download. It includes Ray’s New Elementary Algebra and Ray’s New Higher Algebra, which are roughly equivalent to Algebra I and II. However, these textbooks focus on solving equations and include little graphing. So, parents will want to add another resource to cover functions and graphs.
Saylor University
Saylor University is a nonprofit initiative offering courses at the college and professional levels. However, high school students may also take its classes. Saylor offers two self-paced algebra courses. Real World Math: Algebra is an introductory algebra course that focuses on using algebra in everyday life. It is equivalent to about the first half of a typical Algebra I course. Applied College Algebra is similar to an Algebra II course. The courses include articles, videos, practice problems, and quizzes. Students who pass the final exam earn a free certificate of completion. For a small fee, Applied College Algebra students can also take a proctored exam to earn college credit.
School Yourself
This organization’s Algebra course uses interactive video lessons. Students answer questions as they go, and the lessons provide extra help or let them skip ahead based on their answers. With a free account, students also get personalized quizzes, review plans, and suggestions for what to study next. The course begins with a review of pre-algebra skills and covers most of Algebra I through quadratic equations, but it does not include functions or exponential growth.
