I recently had over 20 pounds of fresh and affordable organic produce delivered to my home. I only paid $26! So, how was I able to do this? Misfits Markets!

What is Misfits Market?

Misfits Markets is an organic produce subscription box. They sell produce that the grocery stores won’t buy because of an imperfection or because there were too few of the item. The produce Misfits sells may be smaller or larger than usual or have a funny shape or a minor blemish, but it is always fresh and edible. This allows you to save money while reducing food waste.

How Do the Subscription Boxes Work?

Misfits Market offers two different boxes:

The Mischief – This box has approximately 10 to 13 pounds of organic mixed fruits and vegetables and serves up to two people for a week. This box currently costs $22.

The Madness – This box has about 18 to 22 pounds of organic mixed fruits and vegetables and serves up to five people for a week. This box currently costs $35.

The boxes are priced 25% to 40% less than what the produce would cost in a grocery store.  However, you don’t get to choose what you receive.  It’s a surprise!

You can choose to receive a delivery every week or every other week. You can skip shipments or pause your subscription whenever you need. You can also cancel your subscription at any time.

20 pounds of affordable organic produce

Our Box

I chose to order The Madness. I had a coupon code for 25% off, so I only paid $26.25 plus shipping! Misfits currently charges $4.50 for shipping, which seems reasonable for such a large box.

This is what came in our box:

  • 2 yellow squash
  • 4 red onions
  • 4 red bell peppers
  • 1 bunch of mizuna
  • 4 pomegranates
  • 1 bag of white grapes
  • 2 eggplants
  • 2 ears of bi-color corn
  • 7 gold potatoes
  • 2 stalks of celery
  • 4 lemons
  • 2 acorn squash
  • 1 fennel

I was pleased with the quality and selection we received. It’s been fun to try different produce we wouldn’t usually buy at the store.
